Can anyone recommend a recovery supplement?

I’ve been in kickboxing for about a month now. Last night I became severely dehydrated, despite the fact I drink lots of water & that Vitamin Water too. I also take a multivatamin, calcium & magnesium. I became nauseated and threw up. I had severe dizziness and my knees felt like they were going to split through like door hinges that are cracked. I also had fever & chills for a couple of hours. I still have the severe leg pain. Walking has become very difficult.

What is probably happening is when you are burning all the calories during your workout and the body begins to have nothing else to burn, so it aims towards muscle. In order to replenish the calories, etc. burned during your workout you need an electrolyte replacement drink.

Like someone else said, stay away from Gatorade/Powerade. Although they have electrolytes, they’re loaded with sugar. Try different replenishers like Accelerade, Hammer HEED, Recoverite, etc.

Also, although after a work the thought of eating is very ideal, it is a prime opportunity to successfully regain strength and energy. Try a banana or something with potassium. Give that a try and see how it works.
